Visit our Surf House in the South West Coast of Sri Lanka! Hone your surfing skills, or learn to surf with our professional coaches at a variety of reef and beach breaks, complimented by functional training sessions, all fuelled by tremendously tasty and colourful curries.

Whatever your surfing ability, our task is to take it to the next level, whilst giving you the tools to enable to continue your progression. We are internationally known for world class surf coaching, a reputation we maintain by using professional coaches, who also hold recognised lifesaving qualifications to ensure your safety.

What to Expect

Sri Lanka is one of the best places on the planet to learn to surf and advance your surfing skills on the user friendly waves, surfing in just boardshorts or a bikini. One week at our Surf House will include our renowned 5 day surf coaching course, with daily functional training sessions and delicious locally inspired meals so you will be getting in surf shape and improving flexiblity, whilst experiencing the culinary delights of the 'Pearl of the Indian Ocean'. 

The Surf House is located in the thriving local town of Ahangama, on the SW Coast, nicely tucked away into the jungle away from the hustle and bustle, yet just 50m from one of the best surf spots in the region. Triple, twin and double rooms are available. All of which are en suite, with decent beds to ensure a good nights sleep!

Trip Timeline

Here you'll find a day by day breakdown of your course.

  • Saturday Arrivals Day

    If you have booked a transfer a member of the TTR team will be greeting you at the airport. Check in is from 3pm, chill out, meet the team, go for your first tropical surf if you arrive in time, or just enjoy a cold beer with your first Sri Lankan curry :)

  • Surf Course

    Split between Days 1,2,3, Rest Day, then Days 4 & 5, our bespoke surf coaching courses utilise the best surfing conditions of the day with classroom based learning, video analysis and functional training sessions. A typical day would include coffee and fruit at 6am, surfing at 6:15am, breakfast at 9am, theory and / or video analysis at 10am, followed by surf specific training. At 1pm you have some free time to have lunch / explore, followed by an afternoon surf session at 3:30pm, a sunset beer at 6pm, dinner at 7pm. Sleep, repeat. 

  • Saturday Departure Day

    You will finish your week with new found skills and tools to enable you, to develop your surfing by yourself whether you live near the ocean or not. Check out is from 11am, if you have booked a transfer you will be taken to the airport by TTR staff.

Flights need to be booked into Colombo International airport, which is also known as Bandaranaike and Katunayake airport. There are direct flights with Sri Lankan Airlines from London Heathrow to Colombo airport.

Breakfast and 5 dinners are included in the package price - so not much! A meal in Sri Lanka can range from as little as £1 for a simple rice or curry, whilst a fresh tuna steak and a large Lion beer will set you back about £5.

None! Sri Lanka is a tropical paradise where wetsuits aren't required. We provide rash vests to offer some protection from the sun - just don’t forget your swim wear and plenty of sun cream! The surf camp also has a range of surfboards which you can try out over the week, hire is included in the price.

Weeks run from Saturday to Saturday. Check in is from 3pm and check out is 11am. If you have booked a transfer a trip leader will be there to greet you in the Arrivals hall at Colombo airport.

The Surf House is ideal for someone who wants to learn the fundamentals of surfing, or a surfer who wants to looking to progress. We will be using a mixture of in water and classroom based coaching techniques using video analysis, surf theory and different equipment throughout the week. This isn't a yoga retreat or a party place, but we will practice surf specific training and exercises and we do enjoy a sunset beer.
