One of the greatest things about surfing is its complete uniqueness, there are no two waves that are the same nor no two locations. When you aren’t down at your local you’re dreaming up surf trips to destinations around the globe. Surfing doesn’t just keep you fit and test your mental resolve outside of your comfort zone, but it inspires travel on any scale, down to the next beach, up the coast, to a new community, country or some uncharted island in the middle of nowhere. It keeps you out the house and on your toes with an open mind and no horizon. The world is an amazing place filled with amazing people and surfing has been my introduction to it all, and in turn, introduced me to myself.

My experiences are in many ways similar experiences to that of the people who now travel with me up the coast of South Africa with Ticket To Ride. They too dreamt up the reality they now get to experience with me and Ticket to Ride on South African Surf Adventure.

So what exactly is the Ticket to Ride experience in South Africa?

You’re wanting to go on an incredible surf trip but with no confidence as to how to go about it, trying to get a friend/s to tag along to help boost your morale and keep you company along the way. There are quite a few barriers one comes across as you’re left with a lot of ‘if’s’ and ‘but’s’ early on and all of these are compounded if you aren’t particularly confident in your ability.

So many beautiful places to see and we know where to look. Plettenberg Bay.

Now take away that stress and focus solely on the initial inspiration that drew you to the idea of going on this surf trip. The feelings you felt when you dreamt up and imagined yourself on this adventure, that is exactly what we try and leave you with and more.

No more having to convince your friends to join as you meet all your new friends on day 1 of the trip, up to 25 of them, all like-minded and from all corners of the globe, all looking for the same thing you are. Now throw travel coordinators, photographers, ISA qualified and professional Surf coaches with the best local knowledge, a versatile itinerary packed with surfing, tourism, community work and travel in the mix and suddenly all those ‘if’s’ and ‘but’s’ disappear.

Now you’re getting structured surf lessons, learning and improving with people you know, surfing a variety of world-class waves, getting involved in local communities, building lifelong friendships and making memories that will influence you forever while seeing the best of the South African coastline and sending your best surf shots back home to make all your friends jealous.

Find yourself at the heart of the Transkei, Coffee Bay.

This is something I’m so proud and grateful to be a part of. The current group I’m with are busy winding down into the last two weeks of this 10-week adventure. Some of us will go on for 3 more weeks into Mozambique while the others head home with memories to last a lifetime. Either way, it’s been an incredible journey!
