    What to Expect

    Two Weeks, two Paradise Islands.

Learn to surf, or hone your surfing skills on Sri Lanka's South West Coast during the beautiful Green Season surfing Weligama Bay. Expect none of the crowds of the peak season, friendlier waves and even friendlier faces.

After a week of intense surfing, you will be waved off to the airport and after the short flight to Male in The Maldives, you will be greeted upon arrival and whisked off to the beautiful Island of Thulusdoo via speedboat. This week will be spent surfing in the capable hands of the Akiri Surf Team.

Beginner Surfers will continue to hone their new found skills in small friendly waves a short walk away from the Surf House. Intermediate and Advanced Surfers will take on the most incredible waves imaginable such as the never ending left-hander 'Chickens' and the beautiful right 'Sultans' accessed only by speedboat. Truly advanced surfers can try out the barrels at 'Cokes'.

    Trip Timeline

Here you'll find a day by day breakdown of your course.

    • Sri Lanka Arrivals Day

You will be greeted at the airport and taken to the Ticket to Ride Surf House in Ahangama, where you'll meet the team and get settled into your room before having a welcome drink on the roof-top bar watching the sunset and your first Sri Lankan curry for dinner.

    • Surf Surf Surf

Your surf course starts bright and early at 06:00am on Sunday, when you'll have a coffee and fruit whilst discussing your aims with your coach, then hit the waves! You will surf for around 2 hours, then have a hearty breakfast, followed by surf theory or video analysis and a surf specific stretching class. You will then have a few hours off for lunch and rest before hitting the waves again at 4pm, followed by a sunset drink and dinner at 7pm.

This beautiful routine repeats throughout the week, except for on Wednesday which is a rest day where we can arrange a local excursion visiting the tea plantation, temples, Galle Fort, or you can book a massage and chill :)

    • Transfer to Paradise

On Saturday you will be taken to the airport in time for your flight to the Maldives. After a quick hour in the sky, you will be greeted at Male International Airport and whisked off via speedboat to the local Island of Thulusdoo and check into Paradise.

    • Island Life

The team at Akiri Surf will look after you through the week with a mixture of boat trips to the waves and on land coaching classes. The pace in Thulusdoo is a lot slower than Sri Lanka, so it will be the perfect week balancing adventure and relaxation.

    • Departure Day :(

After two weeks of surfing bliss in two Paradise Islands it's time to head back to the airport and a member of the Akiri team will make sure you get there in time for your flight, totally stoked and surfed-out!
