Cycle and surf through some of the best spots SW France has to offer.

This bespoke surf and cycle tour starts in the thick of the pine trees in SW France and follows the pristine cycle paths along the coast for the majority of the journey. Open to all ages and levels of cyclists and surfers, this completely hassle-free trip is perfect for anyone up for a bit of an adventure.

 

What to Expect

We will cycle to each spot carrying only daily supplies. The Ticket to Ride support vehicle will carry all camping equipment, surfboards and baggage and will await us at the evening's location with cold beers and a warm supper.

You'll get the chance to surf some of the famous beach breaks of SW France and experience some classic European cycling routes. The route is flat until the last day and will include a maximum of 40km cycling per day.

Trip Timeline

Here you'll find a day by day breakdown of your course.

  • Arrival in Bordeaux

    After arriving in Bordeaux you'll get your transfer to the first camp site in Lacanau. We'll get a surf in upon arrival then you will spend the first evening getting to know your fellow riders and running through the exciting plan and itinerary for the up and coming week. Day two is all surf, french food, and a good nights sleep before hopping on the saddle for day three.

  • Lacanau to Lege Cap Ferret

    Our first days ride will be around 50km to get the legs nicely warmed up for the week. Starting from our initial base of Lacanau we'll work down to  to Lege Cap Ferret where the Ticket to Ride support team will have everything waiting for you.

  • Cap Feret to Mimizan Plage

    The second day is a flat 60km ride further south to Mimizan Plage. Mimizan is surround by stunning pine tree forests and has fun waves, perfect for all abilities.

  • Mimizan Plage to Hossegor

    We will spend two nights in Mimizan Plage to utilise the perfect surfing beach, then after dawnie morning surf we will head off to the World famous surf town Hossegor.

  • Hossegor to Biarritz

    This is a different 40km in the saddle as we vier away from 'Le Pin Sec' and pick up the pace in some different terrain. Equally as beautiful and Biarritz is the cherry on top.

  • Final Day

    On your final day you'll get a chance to rest your legs and enjoy as much time in the water as you can. If you don't want to surf you can simply take in the south western bench culture and relax. You'll then be taken to Biarritz airport to catch your flight home.

We advise hiring touring bikes locally, alternatively we would suggest boxing your bike up and checking in with your airline as sports equipment.

There will be laundry facilities at most camp sites. We tend to wash kit every 2 days.

France and Spain have some of the best naughty treats in the World, think cheese, bread, croissants, meat. However our in house chef can cater to any dietary requirements.

A daily surf lesson will be on the agenda. All abilities of surfer welcome.

The support vehicle will have basic bike servicing equipment however you are required to bring any cycling clothing and spare inner tubes for your bike. We also advise that you get your bike serviced before the trip.

 You don’t have to be a cycle enthusiast, but be confident riding a bike with an average - good level of general fitness. The routes are mainly flat, with no elevation exceeding 65m and predominatly on cycle paths. You will cycle an average of 50km on cycle days.

It is advised for personal comfort and hygiene to bring at least two pairs of padded lycra shorts. This is however your decision.

Yes there will be a selection of surfboards to choose from

No. If you need to hire a bike, we can arrange a typical French standard road-worthy touring bike for you at a cost of no more than £100 for the week, depending on the bike required.
