Overview

Explore Bali and score the longest waves of your life!

Even though Indonesian boasts 17,000 idyllic islands, surfers since the 1970's have always headed to Bali, and more specifically, Uluwatu or Kuta. On this trip we head the other way and get out of the main surf spots by driving up the West Coast searching for perfect waves.

Expect a journey through rice paddies as we take in Bali's longest pointbreak, amongst a plethora of other spots.

What to Expect

With our local knowledge and experience, you'll certainly see more of Bali than the average surfer and will always find yourself in front the right spot at the right time, with the right tide and the right wind.

Your surfing will reach new heights as our surf coaches are on hand to answer any question you've ever had and guide you in and out of the water.

As much as you dream about surfing day in and day out, your body will need some time to rest, but don't worry, we take down time very seriously on this trip. Sometimes you'll be analysing footage of your surfing and other times you'll be exploring the local area, having a bintang watching the waves or simply getting lost in a book on the beach.

Surfing ability

This trip is best suited to surfers with some experience, not total beginners. Whether you’re just starting to consistently surf green waves, or looking to land your first air, our coaching team will be ready for you. The entry level for this trip requires you to have confidence and knowledge in the water, and be confident in the basic skills in surfing.

Trip Timeline

Here you'll find a day by day breakdown of your course.

  • Welcome to Indo (Canggu, Bali)

On arrival in Denpasar Airport you will be greeted by your trip leaders who will take you to the accommodation to settle in and enjoy a welcome meal with the group. You will then set off the following morning to fly to Lombok! These first three days in Canggu will see you settling in, beating your jetlag and getting into the water.

We'll also spend time getting you on the right equipment for our trip up the coast. There are lots of breaks around Canggu to accomodate and test your surfing ability, so we'll be surfing, relaxing and enjoying the high energy of the area as well!

  • Road trip! (Canggu to Balian & Medewi, Bali)

With boards and bags packed it is time to set off on the road trip! We will journey up the west coast, stopping at Canggu, Balian and Medewi, where we will experience really, really long waves up to 500m!

  • Farewell! (Canggu, Bali)

After a solid two weeks of surf, eat, surf repeat, we head back down to Canggu for a fun-packed farewell meal, drinks and a good sleep. On the final day it's time to head to the airport, tanned, surfed out and stoked.

There are loads of different types of waves to suit everyone's needs, so don't fret!

Our Indonesian adventures are aimed at individuals who are looking to extend their surfing knowledge. Our coaches are more than qualified to teach total beginners to competition level surfers. This 4 Week On The Go trip is best suited to those with some surf experience, ideally catching their own unbroken waves.

The island of Bali is a low to no risk area of Indonesia. However, we recommend checking the latest government advice on Fit For Travel and consulting your GP before you leave.

Living in Indonesia is nice and cheap but it's difficult to give an exact figure as this varies from individual to individual. A budget of £70 - £100 per week is likely to be more than adequate but if you're a bit of a big spender then you many need to budget for more.

Yes you do. For many countries Indonesia is now doing a Visa on Arrival system. If your trip is longer than 30 days you will need to extend your visa. The free Visa on Arrival (VOA) cannot be extended, but you can pay for the extendable version at the airport. This can be extended for a further 30 days, so you can remain in Indonesia for 60 days total.

Visas are only issued on the grounds that you have proof of return/onward travel out of Indonesia. You may also be asked to show proof of funds (often about £1,500), so it's always worth bringing a valid credit card for this purpose.

Important: Please check with your own country’s embassy/advice to confirm your travel requirements as this varies from country to country.
