Overview

Travel from the East to West Coast of Sri Lanka - surf, eat, explore, repeat.

If you're looking to experience the best surfing in Sri Lanka in one tour, we've planned the ultimate surf trip for you. You will spend one week in the world famous Arugam Bay, riding the peeling right hand point breaks complimented by two weeks intense surf coaching at our Surf House in Ahangama.

Expect to explore the best of this magical country on an epic coast to coast surf trip.

What to Expect

We strive to have the most progressive surf coaching package in the game. With a team of instructors led by former WCT surfer Nikita Robb and our dedicated coaching course, we offer an immersive surf course like no other. Your surfing will improve more in three weeks, than it would in three years.

Combine this with colourful cuisine, bright blue waves, dreamy beachfront accommodation and a culture overload to stimulate all senses; a once in a lifetime experience awaits.

September or May Tour?

This is a question that needs to be asked and thought out thoroughly. The main difference between the tours are that in September you will go to the East Coast first, followed by the South West Coast and in the April tour you will start in the South West Coast followed by the East Coast.

In September the East Coast is season is coming to an end and it is in it's prime for waves. The sand banks are perfect after a season of finely groomed swell. The South West Coast is just starting its season, so the waves can be powerful and there will be the occasional tropical storm. But we always find a clean wave to surf every day and the sun doesn't stop shining...

In May the South West Coast season is coming to a close and the swell is normally pumping. There will no doubt be the occasional storm as the weather is always temperamental at this time of year, but the vibes are high as we have just come into the Sri Lankan new year and the crowds from the peak season will have all left. The East Coast season is just getting started and whilst the waves aren't as perfect as the end of the season, there are still several right hand point breaks to enjoy from sunrise to sunset.

Both options are great for complete beginners or total rippers.

FAQs

Got a question about this course? Here's the best place to start. If you don't find your answer here, you can request a callback or get in touch using our contact page.

In Arugam Bay the surf is usually perfect in October as it is the end of the season with lots of options of places to surf. In Ahangama it is the start of the season, so not all reef breaks will be working perfectly but we have heaps of options and will find clean waves every day. It is also extremely quiet in the water at this time of year, which is a real treat.

Flights need to be booked into Colombo International airport, which is also known as Bandaranaike and Katunayake airport. There are direct flights with Sri Lankan Airlines from London Heathrow to Colombo airport.

Please arrive before 2pm to get the included transfer. The transfer to Arugam Bay is around 6 hours.

This will totally depend on how many sunset cocktails you fancy as alcohol is not included in the price!

Your breakfast and five dinners per week are included in Ahangama and your breakfast and lunch are included at your week in Arugam Bay - so you don't have to worry too much about budgeting for your food. A meal in Sri Lanka can range from as little as £1 for a simple rice or curry, while a fresh tuna steak and a large Lion beer will set you back about £7.

The majority of surfers on our trips are beginners with minimal surfing experience. Sri Lanka is the perfect place to learn with super fun waves and friendly beach breaks but we can also cater to more advanced surfers. Our Trip Leaders are very experienced surfers and coaches that tailor their coaching to your skill level, so you'll leave Sri Lanka an infinitely better surfer than when you arrived.

None! Sri Lanka is a tropical paradise where wetsuits aren't required. We provide rash vests to offer some protection from the sun - just don’t forget your swim wear and plenty of sun cream!

Kumana National Park Tour We will spend an afternoon at Kumana National park where you'll get the chance to see elephants, leopards and a whole host of wildlife in their natural environment.

Pottuvil Lagoon Tour: Led by our local guides, we paddle on traditional crafted catamarans from the main land to a secluded beach inhabited by local fisherman. Expect to see an abundance of wildlife such as elephants, eagles, water buffalo, crocodiles and more.
